Il Marroneto
Il Marroneto, founded in 1974 by Giuseppe Mori, is a renowned winery in Montalcino, Tuscany. The estate, managed by his son Alessandro Mori, is known for its traditional approach to winemaking and the production of high-quality Brunello di Montalcino wines.
One of Il Marroneto's most celebrated wines is the "Madonna delle Grazie", named after the nearby 13th-century chapel. This wine is made from a special selection of Sangiovese grapes from the historic vineyard next to the chapel. The vineyard is located on the northern slope of the Montalcino hill, at an altitude of about 430 metres, which ensures cool nights and significant temperature differences. This microclimate, combined with the sandy, mineral-rich soils, contributes to the wine's elegance and freshness.
The "Madonna delle Grazie" is produced with minimal intervention to preserve the natural aromas and flavours of the Sangiovese grape. The wine is aged for four and a half years in large Slavonian oak barrels, which adds to its complexity and depth without overpowering the delicate fruit aromas.
This Brunello di Montalcino is praised for its intense garnet-red colour and a nose that reveals aromas of ripe fruit, mint, liquorice and bitter coffee. On the palate, the wine is imposing, with plenty of character, very nice sapidity and a velvety texture.
The "Madonna delle Grazie" has gained international recognition and is considered one of the top expressions of Brunello di Montalcino, with great ageing potential and reflecting Il Marroneto's unique terroir.
