The 2017 Petrolo Galatrona is an iconic Tuscan wine from the prestigious Petrolo estate in the Val d'Arno di Sopra. Considered one of the best expressions of the grape outside Bordeaux, this 100% Merlot is known for its depth, elegance and complexity. The vineyard, located at an altitude of 250 to 450 metres, benefits from an ideal microclimate and soils rich in clay and limestone, ensuring exceptional concentration and balance in the wine.

The 2017 vintage, a warm and dry vintage, has produced a wine of remarkable ripeness and intensity. In the glass, Galatrona 2017 presents itself with a deep, opaque ruby colour. The bouquet is lush and expressive, with aromas of blackcurrants, plums, violets and a hint of spice. As the wine opens up, nuances of graphite, dark chocolate and a subtle earthy tone emerge.

On the palette, the Galatrona offers an impressive combination of power and finesse. The ripe, velvety tannins are perfectly balanced by lively acidity, while flavours of cassis, black cherries and tobacco develop in a long, layered finish.

The wine has matured for 18 months in French oak barrels, 40% of which are new, adding to its complexity and structure without overpowering the fruit. This careful ageing process enhances the Galatrona's depth and refinement.

The 2017 Petrolo Galatrona is a wine with great storage potential of 15 to 20 years and is an excellent companion to refined dishes such as roast lamb chops, osso buco or a creamy risotto with truffles.
