Château Meyney
Read moreThe 2017 Château Meyney is a classic Saint-Estèphe wine that embodies the depth and structure of this renowned appellation. Located on the banks of the Gironde, Château Meyney boasts 51 hectares of vineyards characterised by deep gravel and clay soils, including a unique layer of blue clay also found at iconic neighbours such as Château Montrose.
The blend of the 2017 vintage consists of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 15% Petit Verdot. This carefully balanced composition delivers a wine with both power and finesse, with each grape variety playing a specific role in the flavour profile.
In the glass, the wine presents itself with a deep ruby red colour. The bouquet opens with enticing aromas of blackcurrant, cassis, violets and subtle hints of cedar and tobacco. On the palette, the 2017 Château Meyney offers a firm structure with ripe tannins and nice freshness. Flavours of ripe blackberries, dark chocolate and a hint of graphite are complemented by a long, mineral finish.
The wine has matured for 18 months in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new. This ageing adds delicate complexity and spicy notes, while preserving the purity of the fruit and terroir.
Château Meyney 2017 is a wine with great storage potential and will continue to develop over the next 10 to 15 years. Perfect to pair with grilled lamb chops, game stews or an entrecote with a red wine sauce. It is an impressive wine that reflects the tradition and craftsmanship of this historic winery.
