Brewer Clifton Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir
The Brewer-Clifton Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2021 is a stunning expression of the unique terroir of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA in Santa Barbara County, California. This wine combines winemaker Greg Brewer's precision with the exceptional conditions of this cool, maritime region, resulting in a Pinot Noir of unprecedented balance and finesse.
The grapes for this wine are hand-harvested from several plots within the Sta. Rita Hills, where chalky soils and constant ocean breezes contribute to the fresh acidity and aromatic intensity. The 2021 vintage is characterised by a perfect balance of sunny days and cool nights, making for grapes with wonderful ripeness and vibrancy.
In the glass, the wine shows a vibrant ruby red colour. The bouquet is expressive and layered, with aromas of ripe red cherries, strawberries, rose petals and a hint of spice. On the palette, the Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2021 offers a silky texture, refined tannins and lively acidity. Flavours of raspberries, cranberry and subtle earthy notes lead to a long, elegant finish.
The wine was aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, only a small percentage of which were new, to fully show off the fruit expression and terroir characteristics.
The Brewer-Clifton Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2021 pairs beautifully with rich fish dishes such as fried turbot or sole, as well as poultry such as duck breast. With a storage potential of 8 to 12 years, this wine offers a superb Pinot Noir experience that sublimely captures the essence of Sta. Rita Hills.
