Vérité
Vérité is an iconic winery in Sonoma County, California, known for its exceptional wines that combine the traditions of Bordeaux with the unique terroirs of California. Founded in 1998 as a collaboration between Pierre Seillan, a renowned French vigneron, and the Jackson Family Wines, Vérité has established itself as one of the most prestigious wineries in the New World.
The philosophical heart of Vérité lies in Pierre Seillan's 'micro-cru' approach. By cultivating and vinifying small plots individually, each wine becomes a complex mosaic of diverse terroirs, each with its own character and expression. This approach highlights the unique interplay of soil, climate and grape variety, and results in wines of unprecedented depth and balance.
Vérité's portfolio consists of three distinctive wines, each paying homage to the Bordeaux tradition:
La Muse: A Merlot-driven blend that reflects the elegance and softness of Pomerol, with aromas of black fruits, plums and hints of cedar and graphite.
La Joie: A Cabernet Sauvignon-driven blend combining power and structure, inspired by Pauillac, with notes of cassis, blackcurrant, tobacco and a firm tannic structure.
Le Désir: A Cabernet Franc-driven blend that offers refinement and complexity, with aromas of violets, spices, red fruit and subtle earthy notes.
Each wine from Vérité is aged for 15 to 18 months in French oak barrels, much of which is new, contributing to its structure and layering without overpowering the pure fruit expression. Produced in limited quantities, the wines are designed to age for decades, developing into true masterpieces.
Vérité's commitment to precision and quality has earned the winery international recognition, with numerous perfect scores from leading wine critics. It is a house that not only honours the traditions of Bordeaux, but also fully exploits and elevates the potential of California's terroir.
