La Parde Haut Bailly
La Parde de Haut-Bailly 2013 is the second wine from the prestigious Château Haut-Bailly, an icon of the Pessac-Léognan appellation in the Bordeaux region. This wine combines the elegance and finesse of its big brother with a more accessible character, making it an excellent choice for lovers of Bordeaux with refinement.
The 2013 vintage is composed of a blend of 52% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Cabernet Franc. The vineyards, located on the unique sand and gravel soils of Château Haut-Bailly, produce grapes with remarkable depth and an expression of the terroir.
In the glass, the wine presents itself with a bright, ruby red colour. The bouquet opens with aromas of red fruits such as cherries and raspberries, complemented by notes of dried flowers, tobacco and a subtle spiciness. On the palette, La Parde de Haut-Bailly 2013 offers a silky texture with ripe tannins and lively freshness. The finish is long and elegant, with mineral accents and a hint of cedar.
The wine has matured for 12 months in French oak barrels, 20% of which are new. This ageing adds subtle complexity without overpowering the fruit expression, keeping the wine accessible even in its youth.
La Parde de Haut-Bailly 2013 is ideal to enjoy now, but still has a storage potential of 5 to 8 years. It is an excellent companion to dishes such as roast quail, veal in a creamy sauce or a selection of mature cheeses. This wine offers a wonderful insight into the style and quality of Château Haut-Bailly, with a refined and harmonious character.
